Raceway, Wiring Devices Save Time on Lab Project
Original plans for five stories of laboratory space in the University of Calgary's new Health Research Innovation Centre called for standard steel perimeter raceway to supply power and data to laboratory benches. On the advice of Canem Systems Ltd., DS4000® raceway from Wiremold/Legrand with PlugTail™ wiring devices from Pass & Seymour/Legrand was installed instead."From our perspective in a tight labor market, this combination is easier to install - and much faster," says Darryl Matlo, Senior Project Manager for Canem Systems.
The modular design of DS4000 steel raceway minimizes the number of cuts required during installation, and the scored base makes cutting easy when needed. According to Project Foreman Colin Barclay, "The cuts don't have to be as precise because seam clips hide where the sections meet. You save a lot of time not filing the edges to make it look better. Plus, the covers are easy to snap in so you don't have to fight them into place."
Pass & Seymour PlugTail wiring devices also help the contractor stay on schedule because the receptacle is plugged in, instead of terminated. "This gives you the flexibility to come in at the end when there's not much time left on the schedule to install devices," explains Barclay.
