Wire and cable management products from Wiremold/Legrand contribute
to LEED materials credits for recycled content and may contribute to
credits for local and regional materials sourcing. These systems
are also manufactured and packaged so as to reduce construction waste. For
more than 15 years, Wiremold/Legrand has been a pioneer in "lean
manufacturing," which eliminates waste.
Many Wiremold® products, such as prewired raceway, are made to order
and cut to length in the factory, so there is typically very little
construction waste from onsite fabrication. Reduced and bulk
packaging also reduces waste. For project sites within a 500-mile
radius of the Wiremold/Legrand manufacturing facility in West
Hartford, Conn. the value of the Wiremold product may be used in
calculating the total value of local/regional materials in the
project.
Wiremold/Legrand Attains ISO Environmental Registration

Legrand North America, including Wiremold/Legrand, has obtained corporate registration of its Environmental Management System to the ISO 14001 international standard. ISO 14001 is the specification for establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental aspects and impacts of products/activities/services, planning environmental objectives and measurable targets, implementation and operation of programs to meet objectives and targets, checking and corrective action, and management review.
Registration to ISO 14001 demonstrates Wiremold/Legrand's commitment to protect the environment while conducting its manufacturing operations and is in alignment with Legrand’s global environmental leadership. According to Larry Richards, Director of Quality, "Our environmental management system reduces the cost of waste management, decreases consumption of energy and materials, lowers distribution costs, and provides a framework for continual improvement of environmental performance."
The Wiremold/Legrand site in West Hartford, Conn., was among the first Legrand North America facilities to implement the ISO 14001 requirements.
